I Love You, Beth Cooper is an attempt to earn money on Hayden Panettiere's Heroes-fame, and whether or not they actually made money on it, they surely didn't make good entertainment.
The plot is flatter than most teen comedies, the acting is generally weak, its excessive in drawing its characters and yet it tries to have a story being told without ever being close to regain credibility.
The movie does also manage to make sure characters take impulsive decisions completely out of their character, without trying to either explain why or how they arrived at those. That takes another slice of the rating.
The aforementioned Panettiere does her job being pretty and all, but like the rest of the cast she's not given anything real to work with. Some small moments here and there makes it stand above a movie like Sex Drive, but not by much.
