Definitely, Maybe (2008)

Definitely, Maybe is Adam Brooks directing his own writing for the first time since The Invicible Circus in 2001, despite also writing on stuff like the Bridget Jones sequel and Wimbledon since then. Ryan Reynolds starring in this romance comedy with a pinch of drama and mystery, accompanied by Elizabeth Banks, Isla Fisher and Rachel Weichz in the leading female roles and Abigail Breslin as his daughter.

Your daughter has sex education at school, and questions are not to be avoided. How do you answer when you're at the same time divorcing from her mom? After reassuring her she was no accident she's demanding the story of how her parents got together, and here is were the movie takes a fresh spin on a genre always screaming for new ideas. Reynolds tells his daughter the story, but changes the names of all women in the story so his daughter will have to guess who her mother is.

I love the interaction between Reynolds and Breslin and I love this way to tell a story which under normal circumstances probably wouldn't stand out at all, because the fact is this is the very first movie within this genre I've in recent history actually revisited within two months of watching it the very first time.

It's got its flaws, it's not an epic tale and I really wouldn't mind a little bit more comedy. Still. This was a treat within the genre and the actor and actresses does a good job throughout the movie.
