A lot better soundtrack than most movies like this manages to whip up and two great leading ladies accompanying James McAvoy. Add some spice of wits, a classic semi-geeky protagonist with new experiences and a typical clash of two opposite attractive women messing with his head, and there's the movie in a nutshell.
Thankfully there's also less than usual embarrassing embarrassments to be had, a nice period-set scenery of Thatcher-ish Britain and a generally excellent casting job done, which sums up to a way beyond average entertaining movie for its genre.
Back to the beginning. There's a lot of The Cure in the soundtrack, but two others stand out. Firstly we got a pre-The Big Bang Theory-well used Eye of the Tiger and secondly we got The Undertones' Teenage Kicks, which is a song that more movies really should use no matter what time period it's set to.
