Director: Bronwen Hughes
Writer: Marc Lawrence
Cast: Sandra Bullock, Ben Affleck, Steve Zahn, Maura Tierney
Genre: Rom-Com
From the pen of Marc Lawrence (Miss Congeniality, Music and Lyrics, Two Weeks Notice) comes Forces of Nature. This obviously came before the three mentioned, and back then he let someone else take the direction. I'm among those really happy he rather did it him self later on, because this wasn't much despite the cast.
Ben (Affleck) and Sarah (Bullock) has nice chemistry as the leading couple stuck together through forces of nature, starting by crashing their plane before take-off. Ben heading for his wedding in Savannah, with his fiancee Bridget (Tierney). Sarah heading for Savannah to sell her stake in a small business. They start the travel together without plane, but there are more coming from nature.
By-the-book Ben and impulsive Sarah obviously affects each other, and we're taken along for the ride. It's an uneven script with a couple of highs, but way too much downtime and sleepy parts. To me the support of Tierney, whom I really enjoyed in "NewsRadio", was nice, and so was the small part of Richard Schiff ("The West Wing"). Steve Zahn's (Management) part wasn't much to talk about, even being the best man.
